Fast Facts with Nancy
Nancy Hunt has so many jobs around Insurance Advantage and LMA Financial that it is hard to put it all under one title. Nancy’s organizational and grammar skills, fostered for more than 30 years as a high school English teacher, along with her relatable personality and get-it-done attitude, began to streamline our business processes in the summer of 2013.
Read on to learn more about Nancy, or just give her a call. She’s sure to keep you in stiches about her “love” for Easter PEEPS®.
Tell us about your family.
My four wonderful grandchildren, ages 5-10, call me Nana. They keep me on my toes...and keep me driving to the donut shop before school drop off.
“Poppa” Bob and I enjoy taking them to the movies (complete with popcorn and Coke Icees) and Larry’s Pizza. He swept me off of my feet 20 years ago. I am still crazy about him and the things he does for these kids.
I am a proud mother of grown men – two sons and a stepson.
What is your favorite food?
I love a good hamburger with cheese and mayo. The best I have found is David’s Burgers.
What do you do for fun?
My favorite hobby is reading. What did you expect from a retired English teacher? I keep the Kindle store in business by reading the latest titles from David Baldacci, Harlan Coben, Robyn Carr, Sandra Brown and more. Check out my bookshelf on Goodreads. Of Mice and Men and The Crucible are my favorite pieces of literature to teach.
Wreath-making is a creative outlet for me. I made a snowman wreath after seeing one on Pinterest, and then made a heart for Valentine’s Day. Now I make wreaths for all holidays and seasons.
I also enjoy traveling. New York City is my favorite place to travel, usually among a group of girlfriends. This summer, I am headed to NYC with my grandkids with six tickets to “Hamilton!” I can’t wait to see the city in their eyes.
Do you have any furry friends?
Bedford is a 14-year-old rescue dog. I wouldn’t describe myself as an animal lover, but Bedford and I get along just fine.
What are some of your favorite things right now?
If you could cue up Julie Andrews singing right now, it would be perfect. Musical soundtracks are one of my favorite things. I can’t turn off “Hello, Dolly” after my recent experience seeing Bette Midler performing the role on Broadway. When my grandkids are in the car, we switch to “Hamilton.”
Like Linda, I cannot get enough of This Is Us. The writing is beautiful, and the cast is incredibly likeable. It is a delightful combination of comedy and tragedy. Pass the Kleenex.
I am loving all things monogrammed right now. Long-sleeved t-shirt (check). Sweatshirt (check). Yeti cup (check). Raincoat (check). Shoes (check). The monogram fever can be contagious – it is taking over our office.
Unfortunately, this is the time of year that I am constantly reminded of one of my least favorite things – Peeps®. Who thought those beady little eyes would make for a cute and delicious snack? My students always found humor in this little phobia of mine and some of my favorite class memories are of being “Peeped.”
What's something you have learned recently about your faith or share your favorite scripture/song right now?
I am currently going through the 365-day study Jesus Calling by Sarah Young, for the second time. The book is wildly popular for good reason. It feels as if God is speaking personally to me through this book.
